Of all the same day Agra tour by Shatabdi Express we run, this is the one we consider the most complete. In a single day from Delhi you visit the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri — three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in under 18 hours, with breakfast and dinner served on the train in both directions. Very few day tours from Delhi include Fatehpur Sikri, and that is a shame because it is one of the most atmospheric places in all of Rajasthan. Emperor Akbar built an entire capital city there in the 16th century, then abandoned it within 15 years. Walking through those sandstone courtyards today feels like stepping onto a film set that history simply forgot to demolish.
The Shatabdi Express departs New Delhi Railway Station at 6:10 AM and reaches Agra by 8:10 AM with breakfast already done. Every same day Agra tour by Shatabdi Express we run includes your e-tickets, a private guide, air-conditioned transport in Agra, and all monument entry fees. You carry nothing but your camera.
Begin your day with a prompt pickup from your hotel or designated location in Delhi/NCR. Your driver will transfer you to New Delhi Railway Station, where you will board the Shatabdi Express for your journey to Agra.

Arrive at Agra Cantt Railway Station by 8:10 AM. A tour representative will meet you and guide you to the Taj Mahal. Here, an approved government tour guide will lead you through the stunning monument, a testament to Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and consistently ranks among the most visited monuments on earth.
Following your visit to the Taj Mahal, head to the Agra Fort. This expansive red sandstone fort, covering 94 acres, was a crucial Mughal stronghold and seat of power. Explore its impressive structures and the museum showcasing ancient artifacts.
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor traditional Mughlai cuisine. Delight in the rich flavors and aromatic spices that define this regional specialty.
After lunch, immerse yourself in Agra’s vibrant bazaars. Browse through a variety of local handicrafts, souvenirs, and marble items. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste Agra’s famous petha, a sweet delicacy that’s a local favorite.
Post-shopping, travel to Fatehpur Sikri by private taxi. Built by Mughal Emperor Akbar, this former capital is now a historical site featuring remarkable ruins. Key attractions include the Tomb of Salim Chisti and Buland Darwaza, reflecting the grandeur of the Mughal era.

If this day has sparked an interest in exploring more of North India, our 4 Days Golden Triangle Tour extends the journey to include Jaipur — the natural companion to Agra for any first-time visitor. Those who specifically want the Taj Mahal at sunrise should look at our Taj Mahal Sunrise Tour from Delhi instead.
The two tours are similar in structure but differ in three important ways. First, the Shatabdi Express departs from New Delhi Railway Station while the Gatimaan Express departs from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station — so the right choice partly depends on where you are staying in Delhi. Second, a same day Agra tour by Shatabdi Express that covers the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, AND Fatehpur Sikri, while the Gatimaan tour does not covers Fatehpur Sikri. Third, the Shatabdi departs at 6:10 AM compared to the Gatimaan’s 8:10 AM, giving you more time in Agra overall. If seeing three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a single day matters to you, this is the tour to choose. You can compare both on our Gatimaan Express tour page.
The Shatabdi Express departs from New Delhi Railway Station (station code NDLS) — one of the most central and well connected stations in Delhi. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 AM and transfer you directly to the station in time for the 6:10 AM departure. On the return journey, the train arrives back at New Delhi Railway Station at approximately 11:30 PM and our driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel.
Absolutely — and it is one of the most underrated stops on any North India itinerary. Fatehpur Sikri was Emperor Akbar’s purpose-built capital in the 1570s and was abandoned within 15 years, leaving the entire city frozen in time. The Buland Darwaza gateway is one of the largest in the world, and the Tomb of Salim Chisti inside the complex is a beautifully serene space that most visitors to Agra never get to see. It adds about 2 hours to the day and is completely worth it.
Yes — e-tickets for the Shatabdi Express in both directions are included in the tour price. After your booking is confirmed, we will email your tickets directly. Breakfast is served on the morning train and dinner on the return journey, both included in the train fare.
The Shatabdi Express takes approximately 2 hours from New Delhi Station to Agra Cantonment Station. It is a comfortable, air-conditioned journey with meal service. The return journey in the evening takes the same amount of time.
Comfortable walking shoes are essential as both sites involve significant walking on uneven stone surfaces. Inside the Taj Mahal you will be given shoe covers at the entrance so footwear does not directly touch the marble plinth. At Fatehpur Sikri, as an active mosque and religious site, modest clothing is appreciated — shoulders and knees covered is the respectful standard. We recommend carrying a light layer as both sites can be breezy in the morning.
